Food for Joy! – Sunday 15 May
Willunga
11.00am – 3.15pm
This extended workshop includes a beautiful guided
relaxation with Katie from Nourished Spirit
Did you know that there is a direct connection between eating more fruit and veggies and increased happiness, life satisfaction, and wellbeing? Cutting-edge research on the impact of food on our mood is confirming what traditional cultures have known for many thousands of years: with every meal you cook and eat, you have the choice to give yourself and the people close to you the opportunity to experience better health – and greater joy.
Each of The Green Gourmet’s workshops celebrate these connections by putting more veggies, legumes and wholegrains at the centre of your plate. Food for Joy! takes this a step further: exploring the research, chatting about our own experiences of how food and mood are intricately linked, and then creating new ways of shopping, cooking and eating that embrace food as a source of joy.
This extended workshop concludes with a guided relaxation from Andrea’s sister, Katie, of Nourished Spirit. Using guided imagery, Katie will help you engage all your senses to experience the feelings of joy that healthy, colourful foods can create in your mind and body.
Both Andrea and Katie have recently completed Deakin University’s Food and Mood qualification and are excited to share the most recent research in this area with you.
You’ll come away feeling relaxed and energised – and with a new appreciation for the humble veg and a stash of recipes, tips and tricks to deliciously incorporate more of them into your life. We’re talking quick-as-a-flash dhal, some veggie traybake magic, and of course, the ultimate good mood food, chocolate.
Your workshop includes:
discussion of current research on the link between food, mood and wellbeing
lots of opportunities to chat and ask questions about practical ways to include more mood-boosting foods into your life
a mix of demonstration and hands-on cooking
printed copy of all recipes, notes and links to research
shared lunch with a glass of local, natural wine
guided relaxation with Katie from Nourished Spirit.
